Anyone who has spent any time studying this blog or looking into the technicalities of mobile phone spying or mobile phone security will know the the problems and threats that the mobile phone faces are on par with the threats faced by the PC in its infancy.
As mobile phones become more powerful and more functionality is added, just as with the PC years ago, the potential for that functionality to be exploited grows.
In the 80′s people realised that the movement of files between PCs could be abused and this functionality could be abused to spread viruses, it also became apparent that the only reliable way into and out of a PC was by way of floppy disk. Modern mobile phone can be accessed via SMS, MMS, Bluetooth, USB, the Internet and a number of other channels, these are all areas for potential exploitation!
While the applications that abuse the trust you put into your mobile phone are in their infancy so are the applications designed to protect you from these abuses, the mobile equivalent of a virus checker is not something you can rely on and, in order to really be protected from nasty surprises, you need to understand the workings of your phone, its features and what applications require what rights. An in depth understanding of how the features of your phone communicate and what access rights they require to perform each of their routine tasks is the best foundation for any mobile phone user to safeguard their use and their privacy.
Understand your phone, things are about to get quite nasty.
If you have spent some time reading this blog and have a little familiarity with the iphone and apples way of locking you out you will know that:
The video below is a snippet of a report that was shown on Fox news in the US. From watching it you can see that mobile phone spying is a reality and just how easy it is to spy on someones mobile phone:

While I started this blog to warn people about mobile phone spying software it has evolved a little with the questions that people have been asking me and the comments that I have seen left on some of my posts, I feel like it is now a place to supply information about mobile phone spying as much as anything. One interesting thing I have noticed is that people who come to this site are often searching for “UK mobile phone spying software” or some other term but they tag UK onto the country as it seems like they think that a UK specific version of the software is needed, however, this is not the case.
I have had a few questions over the last week that has made it clear I need to make a quick post explaining something. You will not find an iphone spy app in the app store just as you will never find an andriod spying app in the android marketplace.
Generally there are three types of phone spying software out there:
- General phone spyware – this is similar to the spyware you can get on your PC, it is not targeted and it often is used by marketers to promote products to you that they thing you will have an interest it.
- Mobile phone tracking software – this is software that you can use to track where a mobile phone is, this is useful if you lose or misplace your phone or would like to share your location with another.
- True mobile phone spy software – this is the kind of software this blog is really concerned with, software (or an app) that you would install on someones phone so that it provides you with some information about their lives and actions!
Given we have just dedicated a section to spying on iphones it seems apt that we now consider the options to spy on android phones as android is probably a superior OS to anything that Apple can produce for the iphone, however, it may die a death in a supior product but inferior branding/beetamax vs VhS type battle, lets hope not!
Of all the handsets the iphone is arguably the most popular ever to be released. Because it is so popular the number of people who would like to spy on iphone users is quite high. Despite Apple and most fans/users of their products trying to differentiate their products by brand rather than actual function Iphone spying is no different to any other kind of phone spying and in most cases you can use the exact same software. comes a close second in terms of searches for information.
Usually, when someone decides that they want to spy on someone’s mobile phone activities for whatever reason the first thing that comes to mind is that they would like to be able to spy on SMS messages that are sent and received, this is amazingly easy to set up.

As this blog is concerned with mobile phone spying and the software (or apps) used to carry out that spying it seemed logical to address the stories in the news at the moment about “phone hacking”.
